FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
(20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
Students have a right to know the purpose and content of their education records, and which University offices maintain their education records; the right to request changes be made to education records; and the right to appeal a decision of a University faculty or staff member not to make the changes requested.
If a student wants to assign FERPA designees or update their FERPA information, they can visit the UConn FERPA website.
