Fany DeJesus Hannon, Ed.D., originally from Honduras, was named the Dean of Students in the Spring of 2024.

As the Dean of Students (DOS), Fany envisions a dynamic and inclusive environment where every student thrives, both on campus and beyond. Under her leadership, the following units will work collaboratively to create a holistic support system that addresses the diverse needs of our student body: Campus Change Initiatives, the Dean of Students Office, Family Engagement, Off-Campus Services, and the Office of Student Care & Concern. In addition, the DOS will partner with academic units, faculty, staff and most importantly students to ensure UConn's common goal of student success.

In her previous role, Fany led UConn's Puerto Rican American Cultural Center (PRLACC), supporting Latinx/a/o students, staff, faculty, and community members in Connecticut, Latin America, and the Caribbean. She has dedicated her life's work to fostering a sense of belonging and supporting students academically and emotionally to help them graduate from UConn and contribute to the workforce.

Fany holds a bachelor’s degree in Latin American Studies with a minor in Brazilian Studies from Smith College, a Master’s in Higher Education & Student Affairs from UConn, and a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from New England College. Her research focused on the sense of belonging and support received in peer mentoring programs for Latinx/a/o college students, and anti-deficit models.
