Students living on campus must have 54 earned credits to be eligible for a parking permit. In rare cases, the Dean of Students Office may advocate for an exception to this policy. To be considered, students must demonstrate a documented need to park a car on campus where no other option is available.
Students who believe they need access to a car on campus should complete the following questions. The form is to be completed by the student, and forms completed by another individual on behalf of a student will not be reviewed.
After the information is received and reviewed, the student will be notified of the decision. At times, a follow-up meeting with an Assistant Dean may be necessary prior to rendering a final decision.
If your exception request is approved:
- Parking Services has final authority on issuing parking permits. Permits will be offered based on parking lot availability and most likely will not be near your residence hall.
- Requests for a parking permit exception are reviewed and granted for the semester/academic year in question. A student requesting an exception for future semesters/years prior to earning 54 credits will be required to submit a new exception request, and there is no guarantee future requests will be granted.
- Parking permit exceptions will not be considered for transportation to off campus employment.
